Online Slot Machine Search Engine Goes Live

A new search engine dedicated to finding online slot machines has been launched. The Slotseek search engine has between 1000 and 2000 slot machines listed in it’s database along with every online casino that has each game. Like any search engine, just type in the name of a slot machine and Slotseek returns a list of all the online sites that have that game.

Additionally, in many instances the list of results shows videos of the slot (sourced from the Slotjunkies slots database), each showing the range of bonus features in action.

The list of matching casinos also provides options for the searcher to view a complete list of games from each casino in a popup window, along with the ability to see a “fact sheet” for each casino that details ownership, licennsing information, approximate cashout times and more intricate details that a slots player may be interested to know before signing up.

Check out the Slotseek search engine here.

Casino Comparison Engine Launches

Hot on the heels of a new slots search engine comes the industry’s first genuine online casino comparison engine. The Casino Comparer website contains data to help players decide on a good casino to play from over 350 online casino offerings including live casinos, slots sites and bookmakers.

Casino Comparer – as the name suggests – has a search function in the left margin that allows prospective casino players to compare specific operational criteria that they deem important.

The search results then deliver information ranging from cash-out processing speeds to bonuses,  ownership information and licensing jurisdictions and a host of other data collected by the sites organisers. The user can also choose whether to display the results in a “Grid” format or in a more traditional list.

The site also includes a feature that allows a user to input the names of online casinos into the engine to see direct side-by-side comparisons of just those operations. Somewhat more comprehensive than the casinos I have reviewed here on onlinecasinosslots.com it is fair to say!

To try it for yourself, visit the Casino Comparer website.

U.S. to get IGT Slots in 2014

With real-money gambling finally set to be licenced and regulated at the end of 2013 going in to 2014 in some U.S States, this article produced for Online Casinos & Slots takes a look at some of the slot games that U.S players can expect to get their hands on.

The ‘Big 4’ slot machine developers most prominent in U.S. land-based casinos  are IGT, WMS, Bally Tech and Aristocrat but only one of these, IGT, is currently positioned to enter the U.S real-money gambling market as the first States go live.

New Jersey started issuing licences in November 2013 with the first online casinos opening shortly before Christmas while both Delaware and Nevada are not far behind. California, Florida and several other States have proposed legislation going through the political loop and of course, every State has different rules and regulations with certain types of games allowed, others not. The common denominator is tax revenue.

IGT have already identified a number of their popular slot machines that will be in the first tranch release in New Jersey and are already available at Betfair New Jersey Casino. These games include the evergreen Cleopatra, Wolf Run, Siberian Storm, Monopoly Plus, DaVinci Diamonds and Kitty Glitter. Noticeably absent from the list are games like Pharaoh’s Fortune and branded slot games like Ghostbusters, Sex & The City and The Hangover, partly because not many of these are available in online format, partly because of brand-licensing issues.

Encore, Las Vegas – Slots List (October 2013)

I just returned form a trip to the Encore Casino (Wynn) in Las Vegas where I spent a week playing the machines. For posterity, as I go there most years and the selection evolves every year, I have made a list of the principel slots and video poker games on offer as of September 29th 2013. Mainly those I played. It’s not exhaustive but it’s a round-up of some of the main games there and hey, there is always the short walk through the corridor to the Wynn where the selection is massive if you get bored with these!

For the record, my personal favorite games I have asterisked*

Slots (IGT)

  • Cleopatra I and Cleopatra II *
  • Pharaoh’s Fortune
  • Golden Goddess, The Mighty Atlas (Super Stacks)
  • Star Wars
  • Monopoly
  • Siberian Storm
  • Cats
  • Wolf Run, L’il Lady (and something similar with Dragon/Asian symbology)
  • Sex In The City

Slots (WMS)

  • Fire Queen*, Neptune’s Quest (Double Moneyburst)  (more…)

Aristocrat’s Wonder 4 Slots

So there I was, playing some slot machines in Holland Casino on a recent trip to Amsterdam and I came across a bank of Aristocrat slot machines with a twist…you could play 4 games at once on each screen!

It turns out that these are called Wonder 4 games and they are a bit cleverer than it sounds. Because not only can you play 4 games at once, but you can choose each of the 4 games. So you could have the one top left and bottom right playing Pompeii, the top right one playing Buffalo and the bottom left one playing Fire & Light. As an example. You can choose to play all 4 of the same game if you want.

And it doesn’t stop there. I was playing 4 Pompeii slots together (and doing quite well as it happens!) when I hit the bonus feature on one of them. If you know the Pompeii slot machine well you will know that you have to line up the Coin scatters (or Wild symbol) on reels 1-3, left to right. Which I did. Except on the Wonder 4 machines, the 3rd reel also contains a “Super Scatter” which triggers the featre on all 4 games! So I effectively got 4 bonus rounds and a very decent 200x win. Shoulda taken a photo, I know.

The only negateve here is that these Woner 4 games are not available online yet. They are detailed on the Innovate Gaming website so I guess they develop them for Aristocrat whereas Aristocrat’s online games are developed by Next Gen Gaming or Game Account Network. The latter release their games to MoneyGaming for online play while Next Gen licence to casinos like Bet365 Games.

Pompeii itself is available to play online but only at a couple of casinos (check out the Aristocrat slots website for details or see my recently-ish posted Aristocrat online slots list) and because of Aristocrat’s need to protect their land-based licences, the online slots are only available to players in a few countries as of August 2013. Not the USA yet, not Australia either but New Zealand players should be OK and from late 2014, US players in some states like New Jersey and Nevada should also be able to play them online all being well. Mobile Casinos Ready for the Mainstream?

Being a keen slots player myself and having played what must be getting on for 100 online casinos or so over the past 8 or 9 years, I was recently asked to do some reviews of mobile casinos for Mobile Casinos FAQ, a job which I was only too happy to undertake not only because I benefitted financially but also because I just got a new iPad and was genuinely intrigued to see how they have progressed.

I first tried some mobile slots back around 2008 when they first came onto the scene and before tablets were prominent. I seem to remember being on a Nokia (9200?) at the time and it wasn’t what I would have called a pleasant experience. Not just because of the small screen but also back then, Internet connectivity while you were on the move was a bit flaky.

That side of things has improved obviously but it’s the advent of the tablet that is really the game changer. It finally means that mobile games look playable without squinting and with HTML5 allowing developers the ability to develop their games for Apple’s anti-Flash iOS platform alongside the more amenable Android o/s and even Windows 8 and beyond. My Mega-Big Win on the Bruce Lee Slot!!

So there I was, playing some WMS games online at Jackpot Party and after a decent streak, having a bad time of it. My balance had gone all the way up from £600 to £3,000 and then all the way back down to around £1,000 and it felt like I was on a losing streak. Which is pretty common on WMS slots as I am sure many of you will testify to!

In situations like this I normally go one of two ways: I either think “cash out” or I think “bet big and what the hell!”. This time, I thought the latter. £600 – if I lost I lost, if I hit big then it was a bonus.

So I toddled off to play my favorite game, the Bruce Lee slot which is one of the WMS Money Burst series (Fortunes Of The Caribbean is another similar game but tight, tight, tight!). As you can see from the video (which WMS kindly sent to me so I could display it on the Slotjunkies.com website), this turned out to be an inspired choice. (more…)

The “Casino Signup Bonus”. A Mug’s Game!

From the moment I staked my first money at an online casino I was aware of the signup bonus. It was back in 2004 at Ladbrokes and I received a £100 bonus to supplement the £100 I deposited. Ever since then, wherever I have gone, the signup bonus has been touted at me as a casino’s free gift for signing up with them. Don’t be fooled..it’s anything but!

Back in 2004, when you received your bonus it came with the obligatory “wagering requirement” (“WR”) – if I remember right I was faced with a 4x WR. This meant basically, that I had to wager 4x the deposit and bonus before I could cash out – anything. I can’t remember if there were any restrictions back then to be honest but I remember playing video poker, then slots and eventually losing the money. There is every chance that I could have cashed out…I’ll never know, because I lost that day.

Fast forward to 2013 and every casino you go to still offers a signup bonus. I can’t think of an exception. Nothing has changed in that regard but what has changed is what it means to the player. If you think of a “Signup Bonus” as a freebie, then think again. If you think that the bigger it is, the better it is, then think again. Both are quite the opposite.

Online casinos will have you believe that the signup bonus is a thank you for choosing them – “free money” designed to help you win. It’s not. Internally, the same casinos see it as an incentive designed to give a player more playing time in order to get more familairised with the games, more “into” them - but not to walk away with the casino’s money! Mobile Casino Reviews

It took me a long time to be convinced that I wanted to play casino games, most notably slots, on my phone. In fact, having tried a dozen or so mobile casinos from some of the biggest brand names in the industry over the past month or two, I’m still not convinced I want to play on my Galaxy S3 to be honest. But on my iPad, I’m in! Just nice to have finally found a use for it!

The current crop of mobile casinos are a real mixed bag. The older style android apps are being phased out and replaced with HTML5 games which run across Apple’s iOS (iPads and iPhones most notably) and android. And a good thing too as the old apps are pretty shite if you ask me, whereas the new HTML5 games are pretty funky. But the implementation varies a *lot* depending on where you go so here’s some reviews of the mobile casinos I’ve tried.

It’s only fair to start with the better ones, right? The standout software is definitely Microgaming even though, like most of the mobile offerings I reviewed to be fair, games choice is still a bit sparse. I played at 32Red, Royal Vegas and Roxy Palace who all use the Microgaming “GO” mobile platform. The games are identical at each: roulette, blackjack, single hand video poker (several types) and some very good slots like “Avalon”, “Ladies Nite”, “Spring Break” and my personal favorite, “Thunderstruck”.
